The best installation window
Sod can establish well through much of the growing season when soil can be prepared and consistent watering is available. Spring and early fall are often comfortable windows because temperatures are milder and moisture is easier to manage.
Preparation matters more than the calendar
Removing weak turf, correcting grade issues and preparing a smooth soil base can influence the final result as much as the installation date. Good soil contact helps new roots establish faster.
Watering after installation
New sod needs steady moisture during establishment. Watering frequency should respond to heat, rainfall, drainage and soil conditions rather than following one fixed schedule for every property.
